What Gets You Motivated?

Laurie-_-USE-It seems like forever since I last sat down to write my newsletter. The summer is flying by and I can hardly believe it’s August.

Like many of you, I often feel overextended. When this happens I start dropping the ball, and the first thing I neglect is making time to exercise.

This past Spring I stopped going to the gym and started working out at home in hopes that I could fit in a workout around my busy schedule. As the months passed I grew more frustrated with myself. I worked out sporadically. Certain days really hard but other times I mailed it in.

Finally I hit an emotional wall. I was unhappy with my progress. Despite spending several hours a week exercising I saw very little improvement and knew something had to give.

As much as I was motivated to get fit I didn’t have a plan. I needed someone to develop a program, answer questions, and check in on my progress. Once I had this I knew I would be able to achieve my goals.

With that in mind I decided to try Pilates. I talked to the owner of the studio about my goals, what workouts I liked, and what I didn’t like. She gave me direction on what I could do based on my budget and schedule. I liked her approach because I could relate to her. She is a busy mom like me. She too runs a business. She’s not a 24 year old with an “all you can eat” metabolism. She understood that I didn’t have 2 hours a day to spend working out; instead she helped set me on a manageable path. It’s only been a few weeks and I already notice a difference in how I look and feel.

This got me thinking that an organizer is a lot like a trainer. People want an organized home but how they achieve that varies for everyone. I have clients that need my staff onsite for the duration of the project, but there are lots of people that just need a professional to get them started.

People tell me “I would be organized but I don’t know where to start”, or “It’s too overwhelming so I just live with the clutter”.

What if you had an organizing coach? Someone that creates a plan tracks your progress and motivates you along the way. Would it make the task of organizing easier?

I’m pleased to announce The sBo coaching program as the latest addition to the sBo suite of services. The program is 5-weeks long broken into 3 simple phases.

Phase 1: The Assessment. During the initial 2-hour session we will discuss organizing goals, your lifestyle, and current challenges. This will help me create an Organizing Action Plan that is customized to your lifestyle.

Phase 2: The Action Plan. The remaining four 1-hour sessions are dedicated to implementing the items in your Action Plan. During these sessions you’ll learn techniques to overcome your specific challenges.

Step 3: The Follow-Up. Once the sessions are complete you are not on your own. I will provide a maintenance plan, which includes a 3-month follow up visit to ensure you are staying on track.

I realize that I take organizing to a whole new level; I’d rather spend the day at Home Depot then the mall. I get excited about storage the way most women get excited about shoes. While you may not share my passion I know that most people share my desire for an organized space.

If you are motivated to make a change but need someone to point you in the right direction, this is the ideal program for you.

Happy Organizing!
