Among the “boat people” who arrived in the U.S. in 1980 was a Chinese-Vietnamese refugee named Lea Tran. Based on her captivating memoir, “I Did Not Miss the Boat,” Lea shared a life story of turning adversity into opportunity that is interwoven with the Vietnam War and includes graduating from Villanova University with a chemistry degree. In this talk, Lea imparted valuable insights about the strength that comes from conquering challenges, finding healing and speaking one’s truth. Attendees learned how to confidently show up, speak up and step up to create lasting impact.
