An Interview with Jo-Elle Mogerman, PhD, President and CEO, Philadelphia Zoo
Newly named the Zoo’s 15th President and CEO, Dr. Mogerman is the first woman and woman of color to lead America’s first zoo in its 164-year history. Previously, she was the first African American female to be Director of the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park. There she led the effort to build from scratch a new safari experience and an animal science and conservation breeding facility. She brings extensive executive experience in informal education and community relations and a passion for wildlife conservation and animal welfare. This interview with Action News Reporter TaRhonda Thomas explored the importance of sustaining and building upon a legacy.
